FOURTEEN MALAYSIAN ARTISTS TO FEATURE AT THE SECOND EDITION OF ARTS KL - MELBOURNE

12 AUGUST 2014, MALAYSIA: Held for the second consecutive year, the Arts Kuala Lumpur – Melbourne 2014: Discover Malaysia Art will feature works from 14 renowned and upcoming Malaysian artists. The exhibition will take place from 1 – 12 October, at the newly opened Space@Collins at 278 Collins St, Melbourne.

The project which is the brainchild of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) was initiated by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry last year to further enhance the good trade relationship for better business opportunities between Malaysia and Australia through the country’s rich and diverse art heritage.

This cross cultural art exhibition is marked as one of the most important events in Melbourne, and is not to be missed by art lovers and collectors as it presents the rare opportunity to view and purchase Malaysian contemporary art.

The increased appreciation of Malaysian art through the exposure gained at the previous Arts Kuala Lumpur – Melbourne 2013 exhibition has raised the profile of Malaysian artists, with many of them being invited to participate in international art exhibitions and art auctions.

With Asian contemporary artist, Ch’ng Huck Theng resuming curatorial duties, the exhibition will feature works by the late Ho Khay Beng and Khaw Sia, Fendy Zakri, Haffendi Anuar, Hasanul Isyraf Idris, Ismail Awi, Khairul Arshad, Lim Anuar, Raja Norzlipah Raja Ahmad, Rozana, Yeoh Choo Kuan, Zaim Durulaman, photographer Layzhoz Yeap and 11-year old Delwin Cheah.
