Aini AB

Aini Nazihah Abu Bakar is a new name in the art scene practicing abstract expressionism. Most of her artworks are deeply inspired by her late father as well as her mother’s words of wisdom and support. 

 

Aini’s participation in several famous group exhibitions include the GRAind Art Exhibition and LIMBO by Alegore. In 2014, she had her artwork on display at MEET Gallery, Solaris Hartamas. Recently, she proudly participated in the Penang Art Open Exhibition titled ‘Black & White’ and Paper Sculpture Installation for Shark Savers Event in Publika.

Anuar Lim

Anuar Lim is known as a deaf artist with a vast experience as illustrator and designer. Graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Architecture from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, his area of expertise includes painting in batik, acrylic, ink & pen drawing and watercolour. 

 

He has represented Malaysia’s disabled community in numerous exhibitions and competitions locally as well as abroad. Not only so, Anuar also won many awards at local and international stage.

Choon Ghee Tan

Being one of the most established artists in Malaysia, Choon Ghee Tan came from Penang where he studied art in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1951. He is well known for his watercolours of Penang Street scenes.

 

What is less known is his fascination with boats, ships, junks and all sorts of sea-going vessels. This was a result of his student days in England when he travelled extensively via cargo vessel to all parts of Europe, especially France, Italy, Norway, Holland, Belgium and Austria. With sketch pad and pencil in hand, he sketched whatever caught his eye during stopovers at the ports.

Cinta Ayuandrea

Young and talented, Cinta Ayuandrea expresses her passion and feelings with the tip of brushes. At just the age of 25, she practises her versatility at its best as she is also a make-up artist and a shoe designer.

 

Cinta completed her major in Painting and graduated with Bachelor (Hons.) Fine Art from UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor in 2013. She polished her skills by taking part in Citra Terengganu Art Competition, Tanjong Heritage Art Competition and Nandos Art Competition. Her beautiful works were also displayed in the Merdeka Show at TAKSU Gallery, Royal Belum Travelogue at UiTM Shah Alam and Open Show at Galeri Shah Alam.

Delwin Wien Loong Cheah

Delwin Cheah is a remarkable artist who possesses skills that merit in the name ‘Child Prodigy’ despite his Asperger Syndrome, which is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). 

 

Delwin’s recognition from the public included the World Youngest Savant Artist (ASD) to hold a Solo Exhibition by Record Setter from USA and he was listed in The Malaysian Book of Records as ‘Youngest Artist To Hold Solo Visual Art Exhibition’. He also won the ‘Recipient in The Malaysia Book of Records 2014 for the Most Outstanding Personality (Art Category)’ in the “Nation Salutes You” Gala Night.

Eric Quah

Art represents multiple aspects of Eric Quah’s life journey. Since young, he has always lived in many different environment and to a large extend in many different countries. His life is a collage which collects and recreates through influences, learning, and practices. Now he is back in Penang, it is hoped that his creation can spur to a new dimension.

 

Quah’s early works, like those of his contemporaries in Penang back in the 1960s, were romantic because like most young Malaysian artists, they love the land. He illustrated village scenes, portrait of villagers, street scenes and houses in a romantic and impressionistic manner.

Faiz Yunus

Faiz Yunus came from more than just one professional background, namely sculpture, scenic artist and visual effects, art installer, muralist and art department. In 2011, he completed B.A in Fine Arts (Hons) in UiTM Shah Alam majoring in Sculpture. 

 

Early in his career, Faiz has determined a clarity of intention and motivation with a group of young artists in Pojok Studio. His talent is well-recognized as he has received many awards since 2008 and also participated in myriads of art exhibitions since 2006. In 2012, he held his first solo exhibition ‘KNOTS Solo Exhibition’ in NN Gallery, Kuala Lumpur.

Huang Yao

In Huang Yao Scholar Period from 1951 to 1967, he produced an important scholar book, The History of Chinese in Malaysia and Singapore. After moving to Malaysia, he was invited by the former Minister of Education, Tun Abdul Razak to build bridges and teach skills through art. He managed to combine two of his greatest passions: children and academia. 

 

In the Painter Period from 1967 to 1987, Huang Yao produced artworks in a variety of categories with the most important being Wenzi Hua (paintings of Chinese characters) and Ziyou Hua (abstract paintings). He also produced Folk Culture paintings, Calligraphy, foreign subjects using different Chinese painting techniques, children paintings and other traditional topics in landscape, birds and animals.

Ju Ping Kuo

Ju Ping is the artistic name of Seng Chye who was born in the picturesque province of Fukien, China in 1908. He received his early education from Pai Yuen Secondary School in China but later transferred to Chung Ling High School, Penang. 

 

He was a founder member of the Penang Chinese Art Club in 1936. He also gave art tuition at many Chinese high schools in Penang. In addition, he was also very active in local drama societies as a make-up artist. He majored in oil and watercolour paintings, with realistic and impressionistic influences. His devotion to art, his wide choice of subject matters, sophisticated compositions and techniques gained him reputation among fellow artists for successfully combining versatility, style and technical excellence.

Khairil Anwar Mohd Azhari

During the years of Khairil Anwar's career, he has become experienced in conducting art classes, workshops, seminars and forums. He is also skilled at curating art exhibitions, monitoring art galleries and judging many art competitions. 

 

In 1999, Khairil Anwar received an Honorable Mention award in Life Drawing, an Open Show at Galeri Shah Alam, Selangor. In 2002 and 2003, he coordinated two solo exhibitions in Spain and Kuala Lumpur. He was also the art director of several famous television programme and theatres. 

Layzhoz Yeap

Layzhoz is a self-taught photographer who constantly strives to improve. She is a Member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and the LUCIE Foundation. Since 2008, she has won numerous awards, including International Photography Awards IPA (USA); B&W Single Image Contest Awards (USA); COLOR Single Image Contest Awards (USA) and ‘Point of View’ (USA). 

 

Her work ‘Naive’ was featured on the cover of 2009 B&W Special Issue as one winning entry. She was also selected as one of 35 photographers to qualify for the 2010 Silvershotz Folio - an international standard folio review by the International Journal of Fine Art Photography (Australia). In 2011, her solo exhibition ‘Defining Moments’ at G Hotel and Galeri Seni Mutiara in Penang coincided with the launch of her very own book of the same title that was co-sponsored by Fujifilm. 

Nazmi Ismail

Nazmi Ismail is a graduate of two Diplomas. He has completed Diploma in Animation in University Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2008, followed by Diploma in Fine Art in National Arts Culture And Heritage Academy (ASWARA), Malaysia in 2011.

 

In most of his works, he portrays a lot of iconic people and endangered animal species that creates awareness. He then turns each of them into an amazing art. His works were beautifully composed by applying highly contrasting colours and influenced by pop art. 

Norlisham Bin Selamat

Norlisham is a lecturer for more than 17 years in the subject of typography who decided to paint in his free time. Surrealism was his first love in adventuring his works, later moving into expressionism. He has been involved in a few art exhibitions around the region and actively produces musical jingles in various projects. He believes his relation to his artwork is two different bodies of works, he may know nothing but his works express all honesty.

Nurzirah Binti Ayup

Just freshly received her Degree in Fine Art - Painting (Art and Design) from UiTM Shah Alam in 2014, Nurzirah is head over heels passionate about henna painting. The key ingredients to produce her paintings are love and memorization of her own life, which makes her feel better and satisfied. 

 

It has become a habit for Nurzirah to tell a story and reminisce about her loved ones and personal life through paintings. Her thoughts always linger on every precious memory, even more so when the person she admired must go without leaving any last word. 

Sui Hoe Khoo

From the 1960s to present, Khoo has held more than 50 solo exhibitions in Asia, Australia, and the United States, in addition to group exhibitions in India, Japan, Brazil, China, the United Kingdom and the United States.

 

In 1978, he exhibited at the Raya Gallery, Melbourne and Newton Gallery, Adelaide in Australia. A show of Landscapes was held at the Alliance Francaise, Singapore in 1979. He held another solo exhibition in 1981 at Lynn Kottler Galleries, New York. 

 

In 1994, Khoo’s paintings were accepted for auctions at Christie’s and Sotheby’s Singapore for the first time. In 2000, he had another solo exhibition, Sui Ho @ Bellevue at Bellevue Hotel, Penang.

Tune Zikri

Having worked in the creative industry for over 10 years now - from an animator at Kharisma Pictures to a Fine Art graduate of Malaysian Institute of Art in 2006 - Tune Zikri has gone a long way and now he has proven himself to be able to have his very own creative studio.

 

Tune is a man of art. Modest and funny, he captures his ideas from almost everywhere. 

He is also a master of post-production, graphic designing to be precise. His love for music, culture and nature can be felt and sensed easily in his works of photography and other artwork masterpiece.
